Hole #5, Par 4
Number 5 appears to be a welcome relief after playing number four, because there are no trees, water or hills to think about. However, if you get careless, you may be surprised. This relatively level fairway is quite wide and is bunkered on both sides which can catch off line tee shots. A hooked drive (for a right hander) can put you in sage grass rough which is allowed to grow about a foot high. The green is protected by a large bunker on the left side and a smaller one in front and out of bounds to the rear. It has subtle contours and if the flagstick is down in front, and if you played a well- executed approach shot, par can be a good score.
