Hole #8, Par 5
Scenic best describes this sometimes diabolic, frequently photographed, and what can be a tough hole if you are not careful. The landing area is wide, rather flat and is protected by bunkers on the left and right. After a good tee shot, the skilled player has the choice of going for the green in two, or as most do, playing it safe into a valley floor and laying up for an approach shot of approximately 100 yards. The kidney shaped green plays slightly uphill and is well protected by three bunkers, one greenside, and the other two in the near fairway. The narrow green requires a well- placed spinning approach shot to hold the green, otherwise you’ll be chipping back. The undulating green provides numerous flagstick positions and a wide variety of different and unusual putts. Players sometimes leave this green scratching their head.
